The Naked Pianist

There is good news and bad news. The bad news is I have had a terrible review of my new book on Amazon. The reviewer says there is no way the diet could be carried out at home. Which is exactly the one thing we all worked so very hard to achieve.

The good news is that To Hell in High Heels has been sold abroad. To Poland to be precise. They are going to print 5,000 copies and give me an advance. It is not America, but it’s a start.

Today is Friday. The girls have gone ice-skating in Al Ain with their Arab family (Ali from next door, his wife and eight daughters). Rupert is watching the cricket and Leo is playing the piano – naked. Maybe he could start a trend. A TV show and several best-selling books. I bet he would get better reviews than his mother.

  1. Hi Helena,
I got your book last week and loved it. I am halfway through my 14 day plan as i am hitting the beach in a few weeks and so far the plan is working!! I have left my review on Amazon and I am sure all your other happy readers will do too xx

  2. Thanks Louise, am thrilled to hear it is working, keep going, I promise it’s worth it. I am still sticking to the principles almost a year on.

  3. Don’t let this swallow ruin your summer! Critics are usually frustrated writers. I was recently given a pass on one of my scripts by a script analyst. I got smashed and for a fee. That script is currently on the semi finalists list of the British Feature Screenplay Competition. The winning script is produced.

That sort of things tells you one thing: those who can’t do, teach and those who can’t teach, criticize.

    I’m ordering your book.

    Best

  4. Thanks Elisabeth, and best of luck with the semi-finals. You are right of course, hell hath no fury like a rejected author. As I know, there is nothing more dangerous than a frustrated (and unpublished) writer – I was horrible….

  5. Oh Helena! The moment “Hell in High Heels’ crossed my radar I made my husband get me one! I’m eating much less sugar and drinking much more green tea than I did before, thanks to you!
Don’t let one bitter little troll get you down!

  6. Helena,

Having ‘discovered’ you when I purchased More, More France Please, I would like to tell you that Amazon kindly delivered TL&AL and THIHH this morning. Take heart that I and many others adore your writing. I won’t be buying your new book as I don’t need to diet (!) but I really would if I needed to!!! You’ll forget about the review when you embark on your ‘shopping’ trip – there is NOTHING like retail therapy after all, is there?!

    Fondest,

    Donna

  7. Well I badly need to diet and so I will order your book. Sorry to hear about the bad review. I shall alsp post a good one for you when I read it. Is that Leo? He is adorable! All your children are beautiful!
