The latest….

We have been in touch with the owners and we are meeting them tomorrow to discuss the price. It is exciting and scary at the same time. Of course it is always scary to leave something that you love and that is secure. But at the same time I am keen to move on and I do love THE house.

The children are coming round to the idea as well. Bea and Olivia have been fighting over the same room but now decided to share it and make the other room a dressing room. As long as it has pink furry walls. Help.

Leo of course is fine and just accepts whatever is going on. He is just happy there is a tennis court. Rupert and I have decided to have a bedroom each. I will make mine a mini-boudoir with a desk, television, large comfortable bed and of course pink furry walls. My bedroom has two windows. The scary thing is I can see myself there when I’m 80, looking out of the window towards the church and the tennis court.

I leave you with a final image….toothy and the tennis court….wish us luck tomorrow. And offers are welcome for Sainte Cecile…..

  1. May it all work out well, may you enjoy peace and tranquility here, and at eighty I am confident you will be as delightful as now!

  2. Best of luck with the offer, and remember “what’s for you won’t pass by”.
You could write another book at 80 “From the pink furry walls of the octogenarian”…

  3. Very exciting project, Helena. You have two great things going for you: interest rates are very low and in these times of recession, serious buyers are few and far between. Have the house estimated and don’t budge until the selling price matches up the actual value of the house.

    Best of luck

  4. Can’t believe how excited I am about all this, Helena. I find myself looking in on your Blog regularly longing for an update. You know, we have a house in Italy that we could rent out. In fact, I’d love to rent it out as the income would be v useful. But we know so many people who, like you I suspect, discover that their once much loved home no longer feels as though it’s their own after other people have lived in it. I thought your comment that it no longer smelt like your house was particularly interesting for we felt the same with a flat we used to own (and rented out) in London. Tenants (even short term tenants) somehow stamp their own personality (or scent) on a place and it changes. A thought I’ve had too is that having a house within an easy drive of Geneva will enable you to visit more often for surely it’s bit of a trek down to the Languedoc from AUH? Bonne chance, cara!

  5. Good luck with the offer! It’s so nerve-wracking to have your *entire life* balancing on someone else’s decision!

  6. Helena, Just had to say you look fabulous in the photo. An inspiration to any woman over the age of 34, 35…shall we say.
