Today, as I sat in a traffic jam on the way to the gym, I decided that what is good about life right now is that there is a lot to look forward to.
It is Bea’s 10th birthday, and this afternoon she is coming to work and then we are going shopping. Tomorrow I am going to lunch at the Burj Al Arab (where Rooney is staying) and tomorrow evening I collect my little Olive. She will tell me how the world should be run for the hour’s journey home, so I will be much wiser.
Friday morning Leonardo has his rugby-playing tournament debut (he made the B team, here he is, on the left at the back in the black baseball cap) and then we have Bea’s birthday party. OK, so maybe I’m not looking forward to that one so much, but she is.
I have just received an invitation from the British Ambassador here to meet the Queen when she comes over in November, added to which I am going to the opening of Ferrari World on Saturday. And we get paid today….
I guess there are worse things to think about in a traffic jam….

Was in Paris last week, and I re read “two lipsticks and a lover” while passing time in cafes and in the Tuileries. Everything you wrote about passed before my eyes…..so true !
Did Leo play?? I thought there was a week of mourning?? Helena – could you give me the name of the travel editor for the paper? Thanks.
No, the week of mourning seems to have been out to one side! The match was postponed for a day. Travel Ed is Rosemary Behan.
Thanks!
