A trying week

14th March 2009 by Helena 5 Comments

Not that I am normally one to grumble but…

Due to my back still being sore, I have not been doing much exercise and so am getting fat

Work changed the whole mail system and all of our emails were down for two days, some lost forever

School Fees are going up by at least 25% from next year

I have had a horrible sore throat for three days

Someone sent me a picture of himself aiming a gun on Facebook (bye bye Facebook)

Next week will be better I’m sure. I am having lunch with the author Amitav Ghosh, as well as meeting the Swedish crime writer Henning Mankell. They are going to be here for the Abu Dhabi Book Fair. Tomorrow my working week starts with a facial. I am researching an article into how to stay young in the sun. As opposed to how to stay fat and grumpy, which is me right now.

End of rant.

Unfortunately Facebook is full of weirdoes without a life. Sore throats are easier to deal with – honey with propolis and a spoonful of ground cinnamon and of course lots of apples, lots of water and plenty of sleep (if at all possible).

Never mind, start thinking about who you want to take Meryl Streep’s role in YOUR version – hope you’re taking notes!
There’s a lot of plus points though, as you get to meet loads of
interesting people, not to mention beauty treatments. Any
freebies in the handbag department to try out? They too might
need testing for fading and ageing in the sun.
P.S Enlist your feisty father-in-law to sort out your salary, he
wouldn’t stand for any nonsense – he wouldn’t even hear it.

    Helena,
I’ve had a particularly virulent flu bug which has hung on for weeks now. Of course, so does everyone else I know. This either means I have infected everyone else I know or visa verse. It’s the malaise of waiting for winter to go and spring to burst forth I guess. Hope you are feeling better.

I think a facial is the perfect start to a new week 🙂 I might just have to do the same!!!!!!

    Helena,

I hope you’re feeling better soon – in body and spirit. Don’t let them get you down! You are wonderful and talented, fun and beautiful – and I don’t even know you – LOL!

Take care, Nancy in the US
