Tweaks for a better life
22nd February 2008
So the international conspiracy to keep me awake goes on. The perpetrators will stop at nothing. Now they have a gang of highly-trained mice that at 5.30am every morning scuttle back and forth across the roof. It sounds like there are 50 of them racing …
Proud to be Brit-ish?
21st February 2008
Last night I watched the Brit Awards. For those of you who don’t know what they are, they are the British music industry’s equivalent of a Grammy or an Oscar. The show was presented by the Osbourne family who shot to fame on a US reality TV show. They …
An inspector calls
19th February 2008
I was on a yoga mat in my M&S pink polka-dot underwear when the police arrived. I am genetically pre-disposed to panic as soon as I see a policeman. I spent my childhood watching my mother shout ‘help’ every time one came anywhere near us, even if he w …
A French Education
16th February 2008
This week I felt the full force of the French educational system. Olivia had some homework about the origins of the French flag, Marianne and other French national symbols. If I had been a contestant on ‘Who wants to be a millionaire’ I would have been …

11th February 2008

Unaccustomed as I am….
8th February 2008
There are certain dreads in life one never gets over. Having been on Richard & Judy a few times I now don’t stay awake all night worrying about the prospect of a TV appearance. As a mother of three I am just about able to cope with a summons to the hea …
The Leonardo workout
5th February 2008
One of the most common complaints I hear from harassed housewifes and mothers is that they don’t have the time to do any exercise because they are with the children all day. I have great news. A young child is the perfect exercise tool. I present you w …
And the bride wore white….
2nd February 2008
So the news that Carla has married Sarko has of course devastated Rupert. “How could she?” he wailed down the phone to me as I stood at the supermarket check-out. I excitedly shared the news of the wedding with the people queuing with me at Carrefour. …
Why every woman hates Carla Bruni
31st January 2008
Before I start my rant, for those of you who noticed I was missing, I am sorry. The server had to changed for reasons I am not clever enough to understand. For those of you who didn’t, where the hell were you? Anyway it’s not just servers that are driv …
